"I honor the sacred roots of Yoga and Ayurveda that originated in India, and the many sacrifices that were made to keep these practices alive. I am deeply grateful for my teachers in the Himalayan Tradition, and the Krishnamacharya lineage, who have lead me to this moment to share these teachings with you." -Lucy
Lucy L. Pirner, MS
Lucy has been counseling teenagers and adults since 1991. She entered the world of yoga and meditation in 1999 in search of a remedy for her own depression and anxiety. It didn’t take long to learn that this is incredibly common among yoga practitioners.
With extensive training in both Western and Eastern healing modalities of treating mental health and nurturing spirituality, Lucy’s approach is compassionate and grounded. Whether meeting individually or teaching a class, Lucy's methods are well-informed, embodied, and accessible, allowing space for all to find their healer within.
Currently, Lucy is putting her efforts into Seva (Yoga of Service), social justice, and public health. She is a founding board member of the non-profit, Abundant Yoga Community, which brings yoga to people who are historically underserved.
My Yoga Journey
After years of intensive study and practice in lineage-based spiritual traditions, Lucy realized that she was in an endless cycle of striving to achieve. With every certification, she became increasingly aware that she was trying to prove her worth in a society that values hierarchy, capitalism, and individuation. With this realization, Lucy has returned to the practice of deep listening, unconditional self-acceptance, curiosity, and wonderment as her guides, versus looking outside of herself. Lucy values the exploration of unity, wholeness, and savoring the totality of life.
While remaining deeply grateful for her teachers, and the lessons learned, Lucy’s personal practice now endeavors to tap into and explore unconditioned consciousness, where we are all connected. It is important to her not to dissociate or transcend the body, mind, or senses, but to merge with the human experience as a vehicle of wholeness.
